Awaiting

flightfinal-1

He alighted on the fence looking around with a frightful air of expectation.  Perchance had he lost his way?
Flap your wings and take flight, I said; but he appeared too dispirited to respond.
What is he waiting on?  I wondered.
As if at risk of being seen, our longtime companion peeked from behind the clouds.  He maneuvered to face her.
One ray, two rays…  He gestured to open his wings.
Slowly she revealed herself, illuminating the fence.
He extended plume after plume.
With nose down in thanksgiving, he pushed off to continue life’s journey.
She is to all the main source of energy that rejuvenates and reinvigorates!
